New Heatsink Fan?

I don't know much about computers but I am on a conquest to make mine quieter. I already ordered a new case with new fans, but I noticed that the CPU fan is making a lot of noise.

I THINK it is the CPU fan.. anyways.. its on top of the heatsink which is on top of the processor (I think?) haha.

Well, I own an alienware aurora 7500, and in it is an amd 3500 processor. I have no idea what kind of heat sink it is, or what kind of fan is covering it.

All I know is that I want to replace that fan with a quiet one.

Any suggestions???

Vague.. I know.

If I could see the computer in person I could tell you what size fan it is. I think most would be a 60mm, unless it uses some weird aftermarket cooler. You could either look for another fan, or just upgrade the whole cooler to something better. That should be a socket 939...

Links for fans that could replace that CPU fan would be greatly appreciated :). I am looking for something that runs very quiet and obviously keeps the amd 3500 cool. Also.. is it hard to replace fans?

Lastly.. here is my video card: Sapphire Radeon x1900xtx

It's a beast and I love it.. but it does make a lot of noise. Are there any aftermarket coolers that I could throw on that that wouldn't be too expensive and be much quieter?

I'm pretty sure that's a 60mm, but again, you could just get a whole new heatsync and fan that'd probably better and would be even more quiet if oyu'd like. A Athlon64 3500 with AGP should almost certainly be a socket 939. MAYBE a 754... CPUz could tell you this ;P

And just over newegg. I'm sure you could find some kind of cooler for it...

that seems to be an 80mm fan. It's the most common fan on the market today. Me personally i love papst fans great quality. You need a quiet fan and you don't require a lot of airflow just enough for the 3500 to cool.
Papst 8412 N/2GLE
This is a very quiet fan and moves enough air for you. And replacing fans is a matter 4 screws.

about the 1900 that's a whole other story you need to replace the entire cooling equipment on it. Never done it myself. I always bought one with a passive cooler to start (i hate noise). I don't know much about that but zalman has a pretty big range of models.

edit: the other one was faster... -_-

ok crap just compared it with a piece of ram and your pic its definitely not 80mm...
but it's not 60 either
my best guess is 70 a pretty uncommon size...
i would buy a complete new cooler just need to find out which socket like the other one said

Ok I downloaded cpuz and figured out its a 939 socket.

You guys don't seem to be in agreement as to how big the fan is.. soo I might just go ahead and buy a whole new heatsink/fan. Is it extremely hard to replace the whole heatsink?

I really don't know where to start.. I'm looking on newegg and I don't really see anything that jumps out at me? What is the best most silent size to get?

How bout these for the video card coolers?:

It seems like it would be a little more complicated replacing that. I see stuff about "thermal paste" which scares me.

yeah i woudl do as jedi says. i like that fan. and no they are not hard to replace. usually they sell the heatsink/fan together

Thanks for the info guys..

I like the thermaltake one the most.. it is quiet and got a lot of good reviews. So that would replace the entire heatsink thing also?.. meaning the size of my current fan does not matter becuase I will be ditching it?

Also a 120 mm fan sounds big.. you guys think it'l fit into my case?
