New heatsink, reuse thermal compound?

Well I'm going from my stock p4 heatsink to a new ninja scythe. I was wondering if I can reuse my thermal compound that's already on the stock p4/heatsink for the time being while my arctic silver 5 is being mailed to me?

Many 'stock' heatsyncs use more of a thermal pad than paste. I'm not sure what that particular one used, but it's definetly a pain to work with once it melts :P

Either way, it's best not to reuse the stuff. Some people suggest reapplying every so often...

that's just too much trouble for me to reapply it. i'd like to "set it, and forget it." i guess i'll just have to wait for my arctic silver then. damn, i wish i had it already. i hate waiting.

You hate waiting? Try getting your case for your new computer on thursday, and the rest of the computer not getting here until Monday.

I'm going crazy :P

On the plus side, it's a very nice case (see sig).

i have my p180 sitting there on the side, my sycthe ninja, my s-flex fans sitting there all waiting for me to install. and the only thing that's holding me back is the stupid arctic 5. i'm staring at EVERYTHING just WAITING. while i'm waiting, i maded myself some rounded cables and my old case's side is just open waiting to be dismanteled. so i think i'm worse off. at least you don't have your stuff.
