Hi all, I need a little conformation on my laptop choice or if there is something better for my money out there. After a lot of shopping around I've got my heart set on the Asus G74sx-A2:
i7 2630QM (2GHz, w/ 2.9GHz turbo boost) <- - does turbo actually do anything?
16GB DDR3 1333MHz
750GB 7200rpm HD + 160GB SSD
Nvidia GTX 560M 3GB GDDR5
17" 1080p screen

It's pricey at $2,000 but it is also a beast. I'm a little worried about the processor as it seems a bit on the slow side for today's market, but that's kind of why I'm here.

The main things I am looking for are a 17" screen, HD, Blu-Ray and an SSD for the OS. Other than that I just want a great gaming laptop with no real specifications in mind. So if there is a better brand or a build to fit company I'm up for anything.

Oh, and I won't buy Dell. I hate Dell and refused to ever buy from them again, then I did, and I hated myself for it. So no Dell.

turbo is like an auto overclock. I herd somewhere (IDR where) that it limited the # of cores (4->2), but I wouldnt count on it. I think its a multiplier increase.
Anyway, that CPU is plenty in todays market. Most games are coded for C2D minimum and 1,8 or so GHz quads maxing, so you will be set. Plus its a really efficient design.
