Hey guys I'm going to be building my first computer from scratch. I have built one before but in a supervised setting (class). So it will definitely be a learning experience. I'll be posting pictures of the build as I go along. Let me know if you see anything you've had trouble with too.

Here is the machines specs:

Processor: i7 2600k Sandy Bridge 3.4ghz
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 PRO
Memory: 4x4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X series DDR3 1600
Video Card: ASUS ENGTX DCII GTX560 1GB 256 bit DDR5
HDD: Western Digital Mech. 320gbs 7200rpm
PSU: COOLMAX 1000W
Optical Drive: BD/DVD/CD combo drive
Monitor: ACER G245HQA 23.6" HD Widescreen

What will you be using the computer for?

Get a different PSU. Only need 650w at most for a single card. Look into antec, corsair, silverstone, seasonic, PC power and cooling, and XFX,

I due plan on going SLI in the future, but i did have my concerns about that large of a PSU for that price. Thanks for the advice.

If SLI, then bumping it up to a 750w would be enough. There is some debate here on whether that's still overkill, even for two cards.

you will also still need an os disk and a case, i'd recomend looking into the cooler master haf series or some o the rosewill cases are fine, and almost all cases have combos with win7 builder's disk.

also the 2600k is pointless for gaming other than fsx, so unless doing like video en and decoding then go to the 2500k and use the money saved on a cooler like the coolermaster 212 for lower end and antec h60 for upper end cooling so you can get it to 4+ghz on first, 4.5+ on the second, and the rest should be put into a 560ti

ultimate is a waste, you're paying out the but so you can basically turn win7 into winxp, that's almost the only addition other than some microsoft programs that you can get a better one for free instead, ultimate is a waste man.

Some of the "essentials" arrived today, looking forward to tomorrow so I can start putting it all together.

nice, and your q bout the ti v non, the ti is a revised newer version with more power, since the gap between the 60 and 70 was pretty big, alowing amd's 6950 to take over that price point. and also want to say that didn't we mention that psu not being a good idea, luckily since it's such a high wattage you should be fine as far as power wise, but idk bout coolmaxes record with blowing psus, might wanna check before installing

Yeah, unfortunatley it was being shipped when i made this thread. Got everything together and it runs pretty smooth, just have to get the issue with my cpu temp figured out.
