i just thought of something, it'll be a really cool mod if someone put a device in a computer so that instead of turning on the computer by pushing a button you have a key to turn it on...that'll be really cool.

one of the member here have a remote controlled on off controller where he wirelessly turns it on w/ his remote

yup, that device is called the logisys remote multifunction devie, it is both a front panel temp monitor, USB port crrier and It has a wireless antenna to wirelesly switch on/off/restart your PC. Im gettin one very soon.

to bad you dont live in the netherlands.
i currently have a lock with key, so use in electrical systems.
(well.. tey're used to swich on machines, so a pc should work ^^ )
anyway, you have to turn the key to short the swich inside.
and turn it back to open the swich again.
(so to start a pc, you would have to turn it and then turn it back again, otherwise the pc shuts down again while booting

How the hell....??? Surely the motherboard power is either a 12v or a 24v relay switch, a remote doorbell is gonna be on a max of about 9v dependiong on which battery its got, i dont think that would work.

how about a remote car starter, commanly available, cheap (fairly). Just make sure it operates around 12v, get some schematics about the 20-24pin connector for the motherboard and cionnect it all up.
