Hi, I am a newbie on here, please move me if in wrong place.

I recently had the blue screen of death where I couldnt get into my computer system at all, not even system restore, not a sausage. After getting numerous headaches, I obtained a copy of windows xp and booted it back to a desk top, having lost absolutely everything.

I now have various problems.

Yellow exclamation marks in the hardware against:-

ethernet controller
pci device
sm bus controller
video controller
video controller (VGA campatible)

Please can someone advise me if I have all necessary drivers and relevant downloads and if my windows is in a stable condition

I AM GOING OUT OF MY MIND

many thanks

When you say booted it back up. Does that mean that you clean install or just a repair install. But to tell you what drivers you need, we need to know what kind of computer this is.

well I totally re-installed windows xp as far as I can tell, well enough for a desktop thats about it, completely nothing in hard drive.

its a dell dimension 5150

ms windows xp home sp1
intel pentium 4
cpu 3.20 ghz
512mb ram

not sure if thats all information you need

the link takes me to dell, which shows various things that need downloading, some recommend, optinal and urgent. I have managed to do some, but the ones that really need doing URGENT, wont work, HELP HELP HELP, this is driving me up the wall, my internet will work, but log of and on again and only way modem works is to unplug and re plug, i am at a lost end as to how to get this running as normal without lots of yellow exclamation errors everywhere

you need to update your computer. go to tools>windows update in your browser. usually microsoft has either generic or original drivers for most computers. once update is done, just go to the link given by one of the earlier posts. look at what drivers you are missing, if you are missing your pci driver... find a driver that sounds like it might be for your pci devices... if it doesnt work, go into your 'add or remove programs' menu and uninstall it. then try again.
