New Install Problems

I have searched forums (here and other sites) and tried many of the suggestions, I will first off say it is not my ram, hdd, or cpu because they have all worked on this computer.

I have tried so many different things to get my new computer to work. I had it working a few days ago using home edition install disk and I left it on then I got this blue screen that said to prevent damage your system has been shut down blah blah blah

STOP and then goes on to say pci.sys error

When I try to reinstall it loads all setup files then brings me back to this screen no matter what I do. Do I need a xp pro sp2 disk?

Specs are:
Gigabyte EP43-DS3L Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo processor 2.66 ghz
GeForce 9400 GT 1024 Mb GPU

If you need to know more about setup ask. please help me.

I know you said home edition, but it sounds like this is an older version of XP with a newly built PC. The easiest way would to have newer version of XP or Vista, but you could also try installing XP with minimal hardware, install service packs and then install the rest of the hardware.

You can try slipstreaming SP into a new install disk by using either Autostreamer or Nlite. You will need a cd burner and a burning program that will burn ISO's. If you are using a version of XP prior to SP then that could be your problem. Try slipstreaming SP2 into a new install cd.

Ya thats what I have seen on other forums to slipstream it, and yes it is an old xp install disk with a new computer so I was figuring that was the problem but just double checking. I'll try slipstreaming sp2 today and see if that works.

One more question will I have to have a cd key for slipstreaming

No, not when you slipstream, but you will still need the cdkey when you go to install windows.
