New Keyboard

Hey guys I'm kinda sick of using my crappy dell keyboard, so can you guys recommend a good one?

I really want it quiet, and the ability to turn lighting off.

Hopefully under 150$ too

Sorry to bump this

My daily keyboard is fine for typing, should I consider something like a Razer Tartarus?, as they are much cheaper. Holding just the keypad and the mouse would be nicer than having one hand on keyboard and one on mouse. Also, more ergonomic? They only problem i see is that for LoL, i also need to chat, and the keypad cant really do that.

My Logitech illuminated K740 is about $80, with dimmable backlight in 3 stages.

It is quiet with no click sounds. But it's also chorded.

Has been dependable -- my current one is a replacement covered under warranty.

Amazingly, the tiny backlegs have stood up.

Hmm, that sounds like a really nice option. Especially since its on amazon for 59.99.

What do you mean by chorded?

Great price there.

Also, the K740 has a very low profile which does not cramp my wrists since it sits so flat when compared with raised keys.

I think he meant corded* hehehe... Via USB.
Exactamundo. Unless there really is a sort of melody playing between here!

But I think there is a cordless version, didn't go for it, since I think you have to charge it via usb when the charge goes down, which sound reaonsble, just didn't want to fool with the re-plugging... personal stuff.

Just got off the line with Logitech (646-454-3200) about a mouse issue, and the tech told me the k740 has been discontinued.

It's closest replacement he said is the wireless solar http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/k750-keyboard. Which is about $49

Thinking about getting a 2nd k740 myself at amazon while still available (only thing is the effective warranty would be cut by my actual start time).

Unfortunately my workspace is rather dim in here.

My current keyboard is mechanical, it's just that it's like 10 years old, so it makes a loud click clack noise
Mechanical keyboards do make noise, but what I love about the G710+ is the backlit keys, you can change the brightness of the whole keyboard or just the WASD keys, it has media keys and programmable G keys, and it just looks awesome.

The Logitech wireless keypads, like the K800 -- is it alright to just keep them plugged in all the time, and only occasionally unplug them for wireless use -- or will this act to degrade the batteries?

Which would at least give the wireless option.

Wireless keyboards aren't ideal for gaming

I think the K800 cable doesn't carry data, just charge.

Unless there is a wireless pad that happens to have a data cable that can be connected for gaming and disconnected for wireless use? - seems to be asking a lot. Would mean a wireless receiver and a separate way of handling keystrokes through usb.

How do gamers play in big open rooms or lying in bed?
