New laptop Accessories

Hi I just bought a new laptop (HP Pavilion dv5-1138nr w/ 320GB hard drive and 4GB RAM) and wanted to buy some new accessories for it.

1.) I use my computer to watch movies, play games, and listen to music as well as to run alot of high end programs (AutoCAD, Solidworks) that take up alot of space. Because of this I wanted to get an external hard drive to store these programs and keep my computer running smoothly. I'm not looking for anything costly and am not really worried about size. Just looking for something reasonably priced, decent amount of memory, and most of all dependable. Any suggestions on what type and where I should get one at?

2.) I've seen a couple of cooling systems for laptops. If I'm going to be using my computer often is this something I should invest in? Any particular brand/model?

That's the only two things I was looking at in particular. But any other accessories that might be worth me looking into feel free to mention

Thanks

I would recommend a nice laser mouse. I have an mx518 that came with my laptop, very handy. A laptop cooler is good to have as well. If you're going to be using your laptop as much as you say you are then it would be a wise investment. Personally I have a Targus Chillmat which hasn't failed me yet. Antec makes good coolers as well.

Yes. Laser mouse's are great additions, I would never use my touchpad. And no, you will probably not need a cooling pad because it has a bad graphics card. (integrated)

Thanks, Targus was the one I was looking at

What do you think about an external hard drive? Should I be going with a firewire or USB 2.0 interface?

I thought the intel 4500MHD was pretty good for an integrated graphics card

So are you saying if you have a bad graphics card it doesn't need any help cooling? (I don't know alot about this stuff...)

Well I didn't mean bad, but I mean it's not the kind of card that would overheat. My graphics card goes to 88 degrees Celsius gaming without a cooling pad, and I don't have one. An integrated card will get no where near as hot as that, so it should be fine.

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification

Do you have any knowledge on external hard drives? I'm kind of clueless on them. Basically I want an external hard drive for my music, movies, and high end programs (like AutoCad, SolidWorks....)

I was thinking something between 500GB to 1GB
7200+RPM
Probably SeaGate or Western Digital
And I'm not sure about the whole FireWire/USB 2.o thing???????

Here's a couple I've been looking at
