Am i suppose to leave my laptop alone for power for 24hours, or just untill the batteri is full? Either way, is it okay to leave it around 10-15 hours longer?

ive never heard of that before, when i got my new laptop, i just popped in the battery, and pluged it in, and everyone lived happily ever after :D

Hmmm
Guess I'll unplug it now then... The battery is full and I gave it 16hours, where it was full for more then half the time...

excessive charging isn't a good thing.. if you leave it fully charged and still keep on charging it.. your batteries life dies out.. it doesn't last that long and it'll die out sooner than it should've

Actually, excessive charging won't hurt a lithium battery if that is what is being used... They are suppose to have a chip in them(I have actually opened one and saw it ;) ) that apparently keeps them from over charging and such...

I also don't think it matters much anymore if you charge them for 24 hours, not with lithiums at least... Older NiCd's and such did get a bad memory if you didn't charge and discharge them completely, but lithiums are actually better if you DON'T fully discharge them, but charge them as much as you can...

when you first get a laptop you should charge the battery for a long time even though its full, that's what my laptop manual said. Reasons? I have no clue.

As long as you get it to 100%, it should be fine. Not like my cordless phone where it states charging it for like 18 hours  I think this all depends on the type of battery, as I mentioned above...

Now, one thing I have noticed with my Avertec is that the charge light quits flashing like it's fully charged, but if I were to disconnect it and try to run it, I'd actually be at say 94%... There could be something like that, just making sure the battery is 100% topped off.
