Hey all, so my new alienware came and now I want to upgrade it. Or at least it's ram because I only bought it with 1gb. My worries is that if I upgrade it, I don't think my warranty would be valid anymore.
I know that it doesn't void Dell's warranty by upgrading ram, but I'm not sure if it's the same policy with Alienware. I'm guessing it is, after all, Dell owns Alienware.
They'll sell you their hardware (Ram, Hdd erc.) for a reduced price, keep in mind that reduced may just mean cheaper than you can get it from them, and it would still be cheaper to buy it elsewhere, does that make any sense?
Yes, that is easy but my problem is if its worth it. Not only that but I can't find the link to buying separate hardware. Also does anyone know how to upgrade laptops? Is there a tutorial or something? I've never done it before and don't want to break it. Is it hard changing rams? My graphic card, and everything else is fine. Just need to change the ram.
Well if it's any consolation I upgraded my Asus laptp with a gig of RAM last Christmas, and removed a little sticker on the video card that said "If removed warranty void". I had to send it in for a mobo. replacement earlier this month and they took it right in, replaced the board, and everything's back to normal.
I don't know about that for sure but any company that voided a system warranty because of RAM upgrade is pretty shady.
RAM is the most common and easiest upgrade you can do...unless you add the completely wrong chip...and somehow the computer doesnt just stay off...maybe..
some companies void the warranty if you take the cover off the bottom of the laptop, my advice would be to check the warranty info or phone them before doing anything to find it if your warranty should be ok...
if it voids the warranty you'll prob have to send it to them to be upgraded and they'll charge loads for that lol...
