New Laptop Drops Wireless Connection Randomly ?

brand new laptop with windows 7 works fine with wired connection....

when i use it for wireless internet around the house i always have excellent signal strength....but it will randomly drop the connection, and the yellow triangle comes up....

if i then try to search for wireless networks in the area (to try to reconnect) mine will no longer show up....i can not get the connection back until i unplug the router and plug it back in again....then my network is listed again and i can reconnect....

the only other computer connected to the router is a wired connection for an older pc which works fine....

i have no idea what to try?

the router is secured and i am very familliar with changing any of the router settings that might need to be changed, i just dont know which ones?

You may have an issue with the router itself since you have to restart it to get wireless to broadcast. I would find someone that has a wireless laptop and have them come over and use it to test the connection, if it fails then its the router. If it doesn't then its your laptop. You can try changing the wireless channel on the router.
