It ordepends what you want to do with it...if you save for a bit, you can get an even higher spec laptop than what you have now, which will be faster, and more up to date anyway?

Re:AshleyScopes.
I use it for web, email, pictures, some games and so forth. None of the newer games more like Bejeweled and those kind. I also have a desktop that I use, so the laptop will be mostly for when I travel now that I'm retired.

Its completley up to you to be honest. I would opt towards a new machine.

If you want it for traveling and you don't really care for it to be new, then I would say keep your laptop and replace the battery. Unless your laptop is getting to be slower than a snail. Although, if that is the case, all you have to do is backup all of your important data like pictures, documents, programs, etc (or do Disc Imaging) and do a factory reset. This will clear your registry and also clear up any thing else that could be slowing your machine down. I hope this helps. I cover Disc Imaging a bit in my blog.

Edit: Correction on the disc imaging idea. If your computer is running slow becaise of the registry and you do a disc image, the registry will be copied and there would be no point of doing a disc image in the first place. I just recently thought about that. It is best to have a "perfect" reference computer for a disc image.
