can i press cancel and do it another time or if i do this will i lose the ability to do it?

the model is acer 5552

Yes you can do it any time. Just type Recovery in the start menu when you are ready and the program will show up. It will just include a little extra data that you've accumulated since using the PC. I work at an electronics retailer all the time and the most important thing I tell people that buy new computers is to MAKE SURE YOU MAKE RECOVERy DISCS. They once came with your computer but now they don't. If you aren't someone who can easily reinstall windows and fix problems it is very important that you don't forget to make discs. People come in all the time with PC problems and my first question is do you have your recovery discs...I never made them...

i wont forget to make them , its just so i can use it for a ocuple of days befor ei get the blanks.

So can i deifnately do that?

yes. and for you r recoery medium, DVD-R is teh best (i tried RW and +R and they had errors in them). As for where its located, you should get a little popup box every time you restart it. Thats the way my acers were.

Yeah DVD-R the best way to go, and also yes to any time. Like wolfeking said it may pop up until you do it, but you can also access the recovery management options at any time, either just by searching for it or most acers have it right in programs...acer recovery management.

It's best to wait to make them anyway. You want to make sure all the OS updates are applied, any software you don't want is removed (decrapified), all of your "must have" apps are installed and any customization you want is done. That's when you should make your recovery disks. If you do it the first time you start the computer you'll end up with recovery disks that will restore you back to the way the computer was when you first got it.

You should periodically re-do your recovery disks (or do system image backups) so that you can restore your system as close to how it was before you encountered whatever problem you ran in to that caused you to need to restore in the first place.
