New Laptop screen Split in half

Hello All.

Short Story: Sony Vaio vfcs111fm laptop is displaying a split screen. It DOES NOT display a split screen on an external monitor. (SEE PHOTO FOR REFERENCE)

Occasionally the screen will display normally(not split) on the laptop screen.
This is a new laptop screen - old screen needed a new back-light, so i got another screen.
From what research I've done, either this laptop screen does not work with the laptop..except intermittently..OR..the cable that attaches to the screen is causing issues.

Any way i can test if it is the screen or the cable.:confused:

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. If you need additional info let me know, just trying to keep this short.

It's probably a defective LCD panel, or you ordered the wrong replacement screen. If a screen isn't compatible it will do stuff like that.
 
that's what I was thinking. The screen i ordered was suppose to have the same number on the back...but it didn't. I figured ah what the hell i'll hook it up and see if it works..and it did...till about the next day. Now i have a possibly working screen that i can not return because i modified the bracket on it. :mad:

Any way to test the Cable or Screen?
 
Not really, no. Only to put the LCD in a machine it's supposed to work with.

You should have returned it when it wasn't the right model number.
