New Laptop Suggestions

My girlfriend needs a new laptop for school (university). It doesn't have to be the most powerful machine but it does have to be high performance enough to be future proof so that she probably won't have to get a new one before graduation.

The basic requirements would be within the 13-14" inch range so she'd be able to take it to the library. Multi-core processor so for multi-tasking. She doesn't play games but the computer should be powerful enough to run HD video. And she'd probably expect a webcam.

The budget is around $700-900. And she's looking to order it ASAP. Any suggestions, or even advice on what to look for would be appreciated.

look either Acer or Toshiba. Acer laptops are very well made and powerful enough to do everything that she is gonna need. Toshiba is also very well built and very well preforming, Plus they seem to be growing in popularity which I would say is a good thing

I have an acer myself and I like it. However, i don't think acers are too well known and toshibas look pretty bland.
Of course, she could live with one but I think she wants something that looks aesthetically pleasing, has a brand she knows which would allow her to feel secure about her laptop, as well as something powerful enough on the inside to last her a few years without having to complain about how slow it is before graduating.

Here are a few models I've found so far:

Not recommend HP. Sony usually more expensive for the same spec. Dell look good with the price.

I wouldn't recommend HP. They might look flashy but they're built qualities are horrible. I've seen so many of my friend's HPs literally fall apart 2 years into college, especially if they take it around with them.

If your girlfriend wants a laptop to last through college then I would recommend for her to look at some business models laptops. They can actually stand the strain of being tossed and carried around for day to day.

Hi,

I saw that in your notebook listing you include an HP notebook. Since your girlfriend is a student, she would be eligible for the HP student discount and other discounts may be available. Let me know if I can assist.
