It seems you guys know what you are talking about when it comes to computers. I'm interested in upgrading my notebook to a new one. I have a 2002 acer tablet that isn't doing what I need.
My roommate suggested a compaq presario but when I got to their website I didn't know how to find the notebook that was right for me. I'm going to list what I need in a laptop and was wondering if u ppl could tell me what specs to look for?
I'm a psych major so I only need word processsor and excel
Download music
video
gaming I'm interested in playing WarCraft

low budget $1000 and less but if I have to I'll go up to $1300 I don't want to spend so much on a laptop because in a few yrs it will be obsolete.
Thanks, :)

If your just useing it for Word, some games and downloading, then I suggest HP, dont get compaq because they suck. Even though HP makes compaq, HP is a better version. www.hp.com

warcraft will run on almost any new system so that wont be the problem. if u want to play other games though you might need a independent GPU i was thinking hp as well they have better deals

for what you are doing with the laptop check out the compaq v2000z. configure it with the turion and this laptop should be more than what you need. and if you call and tell them you're in college they take off another 50$. and most states have free shipping and they dont charge tax in most states either.

the v2000z shouldnt cost more than 800$ out the door. use open office instead of microsoft office unless you really have the urge to shell that money out.
