new LCD fuzzy, need to "burn in"

Ok, here is the problem of the day. A friend of mine bought a viewsonic LCD monitor and he thinks that it looks fuzzy rather than crisp and clear. Now my question is do these monitors have a burn in period? Does he need to run it for a week or so and it will clear up. I read this somewhere but I can't remember the details. Anyone know of such a thing?
 
I never heard of a "burn period", and probably no he dosent have to have it turned on for a week. As tab said, "Take it back to the store and get a new one".
