Well, first do you have a PCI-e slot? cause those are the best cards out yet. You might have AGP though, check... If you do have a PCI-e slot you'd want to get a 7600 GS, i dont really know about AGP slots but i'd say a X1600 or X1650 PRO series card from ATI would be good... (again i dont know about AGP real good)

Now, if you want your PC for gaming, i would upgrade to a better CPU, add at least 512MB more ram and get a PCI-e card which if you dont have would mean changing your motherboard or in other words building a new computer... Again if you want to keep that P4 build, stick with one of those cards and add more RAM...

If you dont have either a PCI-e or an AGP slot (which i think you have at least an AGP) i think for nVidia the FX5xxx series or the ATI 9250 series would be the better ones.

x850 XT PE is a great agp card, and i beleive the pci-e slots are not yet fully developed, its seems that atm pci-e and agp 8x are about the same, but its good to know that in the future ur ready for the upgrade.

It's true that PCI-E x16 and AGP 8x cards perform about the same, but thats just because the interfaces didnt bottleneck them too much. However in the future, and with the G80 I assume, the AGP 8x would be a bottleneck.

OK well all I want the card for is my bros computer, hes 12 so nothing over the top and expensive as I know you all like the 'latest/best' avalible.
All he wants the card for is to play a few games nothing thats really demanding like the final fantasy game, phantasy star things like that.
His systems meets the requirements with the exception of the graphics card, Ive been looking at the games and the recommend the geforce FX series or higher so out of these which should I buy for him?

GEFORCE 6 SERIES 6600 LE AGP 256MB VRAM for £50
INNO3D GEFORCE 6200A AGP 128MB for £45
GEFORCE 6200 128MB DDR AGP for £35
Geforce FX5700 256mb AGP DVI, TV Out for £35
GeForce FX5500 8x AGP 256mb for £35
GeForce FX5200 Graphics Card 8 x AGP for £25

Remeber Im looking for value for money NOT the latest Graphics card

ok just found another
PNY Verto Geforce 7, 7300GS, 256MB, 64 bit DDR2, 550mhz Core Clock, With Hdtv out for £55.
