Hey guys, I'm new to forums. On top of it, this is going to be my first build. I'm building it primarily for games, but also day to day things. I'm most worried about not ordering everything of the same compatibility as well as not ordering everything I need. If you can, let me know if the build is put together intelligently and if not, what do I need to do in order to improve it.

As a side note, that I can think of now, the case comes with the two 250mm fans already, so I only grabbed one 80mm fan in addition. Reviews were saying that the video card runs hot, but also that its super good. I thought the 3 fans would be fine, but I want everything to function properly so if I need more fans, let me know. I'm ready to learn, so let me know what sucks on this build, but please tell me why.

whats ur budget?

ok first things first. why amd? intel is better for gaming and well everything tbh. Get an i7 cuz its future proof and awesome! with ram, get 6 gigs so u can run in triple channel or 8gb to run in quad channel (the newest channel speed)!!! that video card is an absolute no. its way outdated and ati is better. wait until fermi and see prices drop, then pick up a nice 5770, 5850, or 5870. ati is amazing right now and it has dx11.
 
The budget I originally set was 800. With that build listed, I was pushing 900 once I threw Windows 7 in there, but 900 would have to be my budget unless I wait and save money towards it. At first I wanted to go with an i7 processor from what I read, but friends of mine were die hard AMD fans and arguable for cost reasons as well as their preferences. The video card as well was a suggestion from one of them. The ram idea though was solely from not knowing. Could I build a tower with your suggestions, on that same budget and achieve something better?
 
First thing I noticed...the 9800GT is an alright card, but paying over $130 for it is throwing away money. Here is an XFX 5750 for the same price (DX11 and will walk on the 9800GT)

A Roswell power supply for $100? I would grab this modular Antec 750w for for $104 ($84 after mail in rebate and free shipping) many people consider Antec to be very good power supplies, among the best made.

With that GPU don't bother going to a faster CPU. With your tight budget any extra $ should go to a better GPU if you can afford one.

Oh, if you are going to spend that much on a PSU get a good one like the Corsair 750TX. If you want the same $ get a 650TX. The 750 has 4 PCI-E and the 650 has 2. The diff is both are single rail unlike your selected 4 rail.

Or he can get tha nice Rosewill he picked cause Rosewill's are bomb.
 
Curious

Is there any more argument for AMD vs. Intel. Could I build an intel system capable of the same or even more at the same budget. So far I appreciate the other suggestions. I'm going to update my build with some of the suggestions. I'll edit that in my original post.
 
Updated details. While I plan on using this computer for games, the current line-up is World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and maybe some Left For Dead. I think in light of that, Any of the suggestions and combination's could run these programs even full setting. At the same time I don't want to build something thats going to be obsolite right after I buy it.

Other thoughts, I was looking at the motherboard suggestion (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128416) What would be the pro towards taking that route over the Asus? I know the Asus has the HDMI port which the Gig one doesn't. Is that something that doesn't really matter?

I’ve also updated the computer build having taken some suggestions already. More changes sure to come.
 
The difference is that the second one has been deactivated and removed from listings.

As for gaming, I don't play WoW, but the 9800GT will play MW2 at about 40-45fps @ 1680 x 1050 with 2x AA - don't expect it to be that high during smoky scenes though - it can drop to 25-26 ish. Left4Dead is about the same, but I only play that a few hours a month at most. But for the price, you're better off getting something else as suggested already.
 
CPU has been updated. I appreciate that.

As far as the video cause, I like the FX's warranty for sure, but the other one I have listed is running 800 stream processing units while the FX is at like 720. Which would you guys prefer. Again I appreciate all the help. I know its tedious.
