New mid-range gaming build.

yeah but if he wants to use this computer for the next few years he won't want to cheap out on that specially since the new consoles have 8 weak cores so future games will probably use more threads

How long have quad cores been around? 2007? Earlier? Haven't seen many move that way have you? How long will it take? How often do you update your machine? I think there's some false economics here.
 
When new games for the new consoles come out they should use more threads. The majority of games are made to run on consoles not pcs so even though we've had quad cores and what not it didn't matter since the console's did not(Well the ps3 had a lot of cores but no one took full use of that many cores because no one likes cell lol) and I upgrade my computer any time i get because I like to do it lol. But I have friends that usually don't upgrade their computer for 3-5 years.
 
Stop with this guys, I went with AMD because I want AMD.
The FX-8350, no matter what anyone else says, will in fact perform pretty much just as good as an i7 in gaming.
And in a lot of cases pass an i7 in multi-threaded applications.
I know the single-core performance isn't nearly as good but it's fine.
My friend's FX-8150 does fine in any game he's ever played, and any software he's ever used
The 8350 is better so it'll be fine.

Please stop now, I asked for opinions/suggestions and I thought it was established on page 1 that "I'm an AMD guy".

That fine, but this is a forum, and stating things like this which are incorrect, don't go unchallenged no matter what bias you have. This is incorrect. Period.

If you come to a forum and ask opinions on a build, then outright reject the evidence and opinions given, then you're wasting peoples time.

But as I said before, get what you want, that is fine, but claiming the 8350 is anything close to an i7 is laughable.
