New mobo mean new OS?

I looked around and haven't found a definite answer on this yet. Anyway, this christmas I will be getting a new processor and a new mobo to accompany it. My question is if I get a new mobo, will I have to actually buy a copy of win7 64 bit, or can I somehow reinstall it for the new mobo? Any help is appreciated.
(wasn't sure if this should be here or in motherboards so put it here)

ccs~

If you have the full retail version or upgrade version then yes, you can reuse it, If however, you have the OEM version, then NO, you will have to buy a new copy.

I always had a retail. Replace the motherboard or and video card is a trigger and will likely require a call to Microsoft and they canceled my key and gave me a new one.

Basically when you change the motherboard is like to change all your hole computer.

So you need a fresh copy of windows you have.

If you have the cd of installation of winsows will be nice otherwise, if you have a product key of your windows copy, you must find the same version of windows with same service pack (if include) when you buy the "old" computer...

Microsoft give for free in MSDN all copies and version of windows , you can check there.

The motherboard is the main hardware component on which all other components are attached to.So changing the motherboard is like changing the entire computer. So yes if you have OEM,you will need to buy a new copy of Windows OS.
That is why I always prefered RETAIL more than OEM.Not that I really upgrade my hardware a lot (lol),but when I do,I do not want to spend extra money on Windows OS since I already spent a LOT of money on new hardware.Plus Windows OS here where I like costs 300 dollars minimum.Even if it's Starter edition.

If however you have a product key,you can call Microsoft to give you a new one. It's your choice, but if I were you,I would rather have retail version than OEM.

Of course there ARE other "DARK" ways of getting Windows OS to work on any new hardware, but let's leave that for some other time :D (You all know what I mean hehe :D)...

Cheers!
