New mobo,Ram, Was i lucky?

Hey guys..i installed a new mobo a little while ago..and new ram

I didn't reformatt and fresh install
Was i lucky to even get a boot?

Ive been told i did a "no no"
ive been getting HD errors latley..so im gona have to Wipe it all out..and do a fresh install of OS

am i right in this ?
Any advice?

I guess so, yeah. The only possible problem with swapping parts is your O/S will freak out and pull its hair out. Sometimes it can happen, sometimes not.
