New monitor giving strange colors in photoshop

Ok so I got a new monitor (LG Flatron M237WD 23" 1080HD monitor with TV tuner) a couple weeks ago and Ive noticed it's giving off strange colors in photoshop (and only photoshop)

Allow me to elaborate:

When I select the whitest shade of white (if that makes any sense:P) It looks almost like a eggshell white (yellowish tint) on my new monitor, but it looks like the correct shade of white on my old monitor (Sharp 19" flat panel, non-wide screen)

Also, on my older monitor I was working on my business card and I had a dark shade of blue, I switched it over to the new LG monitor and it was a dark purple...

But it only seems to be in photoshop because when I put say this forum on my new monitor, it's pure white, in fact it's an almost opposite effect, the forums on my old monitor have the yellowish tint (or just not as bright of white) as the LG which puts off the "pure" white on my new monitor.

I hope I got my point across enough for you guys to help me with this issue, and if not please let me know and i'll take another try lol:P

Thanks in advanced!

My guess is you have something wrong with your color settings (well duh? ^^; ) Go to Edit and Color Settings and fiddle with the settings, perhaps using one of the defaults to see if that works any better.

(note, I'm using CS4 here so the location may be different in older versions... I'm pretty sure Photoshop 8 asks about setting up a color scheme when it loads for the first time, so I know it's not a "new" feature)

No not really. I compared quite a few photos and videos side by side and everything and yeah sure there was light, contrast and color vibrance differences but thats to be expected. I'm just talking about with photoshop because I was looking at a photo that had lots of blue in it on both monitors and the LG had more color pop, better contrast and whatnot, but in photoshop something that would be blue on the Sharp would be purple on the LG. I really dont know what the deal is, but it seems to only be effecting Photoshop itself when it comes with being used on the new monitor.
