Hey guys. I just got a new mother board (A8N5X) and a new Processor (AMD Athlon64 3500+ Venice). I plugged everything in, turned it on, and it worked. I installed the OS and video and sound drivers. I tried installing internet, but it didnt work. It was just software, but I tried to reformat and reinstall Windows. I did that last night. Now when I get home, I turn it on, the fans spin up, the HDD works, the CD/DVD drives work, but the monitor is blank. It just has the orange light, like its on standby, and nothing else is on. What is the matter with it? I have had SO many problems with my computer, I just want it to work. Now what's the problem? Its brand new mobo and CPU...It just suddenly doesnt work tonight.

PLEASE HELP!!!

THanks,
Derek

are the fans to the CPU and mobo spinning? maby its the graphix card? do you have everything plugged in all the way? b/c maby something got loose.

Hey. Yeah, I'm pretty sure all the fans are spinning. I will go check. I will also plug everything in. I also forgot to mention that it beeps 3 times, BEEP BEEP BEEP. I will go check all connections and everything, maybe even reset CMOS.

THanks,
Derek

Is it one long beep and 2 short ones? That's the no video beep... Could be a display problem, or once I just had to remove my video card, switch the comp on then off, then re-install the card.

I'm just cuirous, why'd you reload windows a 2nd time just because the internet wouldn't work?

Hey guys....Guess what, I'm typing from my computer. After I posted that last one, i came up, and it worked! Now I just dont know why the hell it did that though? And it cant be a hardware issue, because it is working flawlessly now...I even have the internet working, in like one click! Ant TTO, good question, my mind just works that way, dont ask me why :). So hopefully everything stays working. Thanks everyone.

Any ideas why it may have done this? It's working great now.

Mobo might have been accidentally touching metal or a part of your case. I had a similar issue with my new thing, turned out my mobo died..... sigh now I gotta go through the RMA process. Using my old one now.

its a short

From the sound of things it seems like you had a short. I would power down, take the cord off and look inside to see if you have a screw laying around somewhere inside. This has happened to me once or twice before.
Also check to make sure your video card is firmly seated and the monitor cable is connected good. I didnt see what kind of video card you have. Do you have to attach power to it? I would check that if so as well. Even if it is working now I would check those things anyway because you dont want to come back one day and find your equiptment has fried out.
-Good luck.

Hey guys. I am using a 6600GT, its in the sig...Well, it isnt doing it, but I am still going to check everything again. I know its not overheating, because the PC Probe reads 32 Celcius, and I havent seen it go above like 38, ever. Even in boot up. I will check everything though.

Thanks,
Derek

Ya I bet its simply shorting itself out on something, remove the mobo and put it back in. Check for and metal part lying around which shouldnt be there.

It seems to me that if it was touching metal the mobo would just die. But I will do a full check maybe this weekend. And I am running memtest right now...How long is that thing supposed to run? I have passed 21 tests, and failed 0, and it has been running for 7 hours 40 minutes. I have a post about this in Memory, so please respond there...I accidentally got 2 of the same thing going.
