New motherboard selection

Hi
I am looking to get a new ATX motherboar for my pc, but I just don't know which. I am hoping to get one from www.novatech.co.uk . Could someone please take a look at their motherboards and recomend me a good gaming one. My price range goes up to just over £100. Also I have 4 DDR3 Memory sticks to go in there along with a graphics card. Also a new processor, I am using i3 an I woul like to make that for games too, I'm looking to spen maybe £60 - £70 on that also fom www.novatech.com . So I'm total te max would be £200 for a new motherboard an processor. Is that possible?

What CPU and RAM are you using with your motherboard? Do you require SATA III or anything else? I am familiar with Novatech's range, I buy from them all the time.
 
Windows 7 home premium.
64-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3
Current motherboard - Packard Bell H57M01
Cossair Vengance 2x4gb DDR3 PC3-12800 C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
 
Look in your System Properties on Windows, what does it say exactly? If it says something like "Intel Core i3 540", then it's Socket 1156 and needs an older motherboard, but if it says something like "Intel Core i3 2100" then it is Socket 1155 and newer. If the number after i3 is 3 digits, it's 1156, if it's 4 digits, it's 1155. Alternatively, you can download CPU-Z which should tell you what socket your CPU runs on.

You'll also need a new operating system as the operating system from the packard bell won't be able to be transferred over to the new motherboard. You will have to do a fresh install of windows.

Yep your PB Windows won't work anymore because it will work on PCs with PB BIOSes, so as John said you'll need a new copy of Windows. Novatech sell OEM copies of Windows 7, the only difference between OEM and retail is that it won't come in a box, it will come in a paper sleeve with the key written on the back of the sleeve. You can pick up an OEM copy of Home Premium 64-bit with SP1 for £77.99 (and it's the same price for the 32-bit Home SP1, but you'd probably want 64-bit).

So even if i have my code for windows 7 it wont work at all, there is no way around this i HAVE to buy a new cope of w7?
 
Did you buy your copy of Windows 7 separately or did it come with your PC? If it come on the PC you need to buy a new copy of Windows 7, if you purchased separately, you should be OK just to install it on your new machine.
 
It came with the PC, its kinda annoying that i have to get a new copy, as i paid for the machine and everything on it.:mad:
 
If there is a product key for Windows 7 on the COA sticker on the top of the machine (or it could be on the side) then you can use a Windows 7 disc and that product key to install 7 on your new machine and it will work just fine.
