Helllo everyone, im new here
Well i am a big time computer gamer and i just got a new online game called vanguard: saga of heroes (incase your framiliar with it). It has very heafty requirements and my computer doesn't quite meat them well enough for my liking, mainly becuase i prefer having the graphics set to as high as possible
this is what i have:
motherboard: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?cc=us&docname=c00208497&lc=en
Processor: 3.2 ghz intel P4 hyperthreading
Video card:http://ati.de/products/RadeonX1600/index.html radeon x1600 pro (512mb)
ram: 1gb (4 slots, 4 256 mb pc3200 ddr 400 mhz) I know ill need another gig of ram to have some decent fps in the game and ill probably go buy some tommorow (i think that kind of ram will work on most new motherboards also, right? Becuase i plan on getting the ram right now to hold me off until i find the right motherboard and chip to install, and then put the ram i buy tommorow with the new mother board).
I want to buy a new motherboard and processor for my computer, but i have lots of questions before i do.
1) what does socket 754, 775 and 939 mean? whats faster?
2) should i get an AMD or Intel processor? How do i compare the speads of amd chips to those of intel processors when intel is measured in GHZ and AMD isn't? Would a duel core 64 bit, single core 64 bit, or duel core 32 bit be better for high end, graphic intense games? (AMD is new to me, i only have knowlege and experiance about intel
)
3) what does the bus spead on motherboards and processors mean? how does it effect game play? Whats this about L2 cache i hear some people talk about?
4) when I install a new motherboard will i have to reload windows? or do I just install it , boot up and load the new drivers?
I want to buy my new hardware from www.tigerdirect.ca, so if someone could point me towards a nice motherboard/chip bundle, that would be great! My price range for this is around $400
I was thinking something like this?http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2841871&Tab=0&NoMapp=0
I think thats all i want to ask, although im sure ill think of some more question soon enough
. Im sure you experts must get questions like this all the time from newbies like me hehe.
