NEW NEC3520A firmware :)

Hey guys. I just wanted to let you know that the new firmware version for the NEC3520A is ready. It adds among many things support for burning on both double layer DVD formats. Good for the future. I should mention that your drive will be detected as NEC 3520AW .

Hehe, JK Upgraded from 1.04 to 3.04 I wonder what new features it has

Oops ^^;; Mine was an OEM put in an external firewire case. Am I lucky that it worked?

This Update works only with NEC ND-3520A (retail & bulk) drives, not with OEM releases. OEM means part of a full PC package or external USB or FireWire variant of this burner. For OEM products contact directly your dealer, distributor or manufacturer of PC- or USB/ Firewire- package for service, support and firmwareupdates.

- Well mine was an OEM (by the normal definition) component and it works. I wonder why it should not. I think that has to do with something else. I bought mine as a component without anything with it. Anyhow...works great for me.

Hehe, I got mine from Newegg, not in retail packaging(bulk I assume) Then stuck it in a case from there too. Whatever, I've not tried to burn anything yet, but it will read just fine and shows up with the new stuff in deep burner(3.04, AW, etc etc...)
