Hey,
a friend of mine has bought a second hand computer off a school nearby. The laptop still has the school network stuff installed on it e.g. i have to enter the login information, i cant create new users etc.

I want to clean everything off and reinstall Windows XP onto it so I get rid of all the stuff that was on the laptop before.
Since the laptop is a Fujitsu Simens Amilo Pro,does it mean that I have to buy a Windows XP CD that was made for Fujitsu Computers or can I buy the normal CD, format the laptop and install the software??

PS. the current operationg system is Windows XP as well, but I just want to get rid of all the old school network stuff.
Need some urgent reply on this please!!

Thank you.

you will probably need special drivers for laptops that will not be found on the xp disk. Either you need the drivers cd that came with it, or most drivers are on the companies site. Schools have a bad habit of not including software when they are getting rid of old computers.

Yes, try downloading all the current drivers off their website first and have them on hand. You many need them after you install Windows from scratch.

use windowsupdate.com
Kind of hard if windows doesn't load network drivers  But as others said, no special software is needed. You might need drivers, but that could happen on any machine

yeah run windows update once you have access to the internet of course, you'll have to get network drivers from another computer and copy them over and install them first, if you dont have access to the internet.
