well i got a new P31 mobo and Deluxe case...

everything went alright except i had some problems.. taking the ram out fixed that though.. so i installed xp and everything.. installed all the drivers..everything fine..

but the sound doesnt work...

nothing..

apparently the audio drivers arent installed...

i dont get it :(

any ideas? ive tried reinstalling them and downloaded ones from the realtek and gigabyte websites..

thanks

So the drivers don't show up in device manager? Is there still an "unknown audio device" or something along those lines showing up? If so, try installing drivers through there, directing the wizard to the folder containing the correct drivers/INF. Assuming you tried to use some guided installation program... well I just plain hate those as they never work right :P

Another thing to check would be the front panel connections. Be sure it's connected correctly or it may be disabling your rear output. I know my case came with 3 different types of front audio connections. I first used the wrong one and got no audio (though drivers and all showed up)

yeah and in sound and audio devices there is nothing... everything is greyed out..

im pretty sure theres only one front audio cable.. and only one place to put it in... and only one way to put it in as there is a pin missing so you line it up the right way... ill have another look soon tho.

what were you saying about installing the drivers another way?

i went onto the gb drivers cd manually and went to the isntallation program.. when it got to the end it said there was an error and drivers werent installed...

well i just found out that sound works in crysis. but nowhere else... when i start itunes it says something about a sound problem..

says its detected a problem with my audio configuration... please any help guys?

What problems are you talking about?

It's a far shot, but I've had weird problems happen with "semi-dead" RAM.

nah that problem was when i first put in the mobo. system wouldnt go past the first screen...

now the only problem i have is with the sound

so anyone have any ideas?

i emailed umart.com.au where i bought it and asked what to do. and i posted on another forum...

i really wanna get this sorted :)

ok i fixed my sound problem... drivers were stuffed.

now my computer randomly bsod's.

quite often it crashes while playing cod4.

i though it must be just my graphics card not liking it or something.

but it was just idling and sudddenly bsod'd and restarted...

no idea why... what can i do to find out?

thanks

maybe reinstall os?
take out some ram....
get different drivers...
check temps....
thats all i can think of right now.

Take a look at the memory problem yet? I got random shutdowns on BF2 with the "semidead" memory and got 3 different GFX BSODs from it.

Memtest86 it.
