New pc,advice w vid card

Hey, at the moment im looking at building a new pc, Ive already got hte case and dvd and extras like mouse thanks to some deals but Im not sure as to what to buy in terms of vid cards. My bdget is a mid range card, i like games but im more concerned with being able to do a bit of video editing. The two cards that seem to be in my price range are obviosly the 6600gt or the x800gt but the connect3d x800gto seems to be doing better in most things than both with only a lil bit more spent and some have o/c abilities. Im just wondering what you would think would be best.
Other things i will prob be getting and would like advice on also if poss :)

AMD 3200 2.0ghz 939
MSI K8N SLI Platinum NVIDIA nForce4 SLI Chipset Socket 939
2GB of dual chan dimms 2x(2x 512MB Dual Channel DDR SDRAM)

All advice is taken with an open mind and is appreciated. :)
 
what's your budget exactly? I guess if you nudge it up a bit then you can get the 6800GS. Or the x800GTO^2, which can sometimes be unlocked to a x850xt.
 
Probably more than you want to spend, but I've seen a few 7800GT's for $260, but of course that's after rebates and such.
 
well its in new zealand dollars and the most im looking to spend is about $340NZ
on pricespy.co.nz the cheapest 6800gs is $380. I dont know if we get rebate in NZ but the 7800gt is $560.
1 NZD = 0.693895 USD
So my top budget would be:
340.00 NZD New Zealand Dollars = 235.947 USD United States Dollars
I know it sounds crap but am just a student and have rent etc to pay aswell. Thanks guys I will unt around and see how much they are going for. Can't even find a gto2 in nz at the mo haha.
 
Just a quick search and gt02 are going for about 440 over here and just did the conversions for the ones on newegg and the SAPPHIRE 100130VIVO Radeon X800GTO2 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - OEM (non oem is 211) would still be underbudget.

Are the Sapphire gto2's ok?

ALso what are the refurbished things on newegg like? just some refurbed msi mobo's on there.
OK flag all that, just found ou they don't ship overseas. Gay.
