I have been watching videos and searching forums looking for help on my descision to either buy a already built pc or build one myself.

Yesterday i saw this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229053. It was recommended to someone who made a thread asking for a gaming pc.

Should i build my own or purchase one like the one thats in the link?

And if i do build one myself could i get a transparent case because i think that would look pretty cool.

Are you willing to learn how to build your own system? It isn't as easy as some say it is on these forums, but if you are willing to read and study, you can learn.

Building is not hard...just takes time like everything else in life.

We are glad to help you with the process.

I am definitely willing to learn how to build one.

So if i can learn how to build it would that be better than buying an already made one?

Yes, absolutely better..

You have complete control over every single component and you can tailor your machine to suit YOU and what YOU do.

Once you have the parts you want--the build will take maybe an hour, if that..

Then comes the fun part of installing everything....but that is honestly more a time issue than anything.

plus if you get confused or stuck, you have a live encyclopedia right here to help you.

K my budget will be about $1500.

I will use it for mostly Gaming. Although i do want to get into programs such as 3D Studio max and stuff.

Also is there a good transparent case that is just as good at keeping my computer cool as any other case?

ok for around the same price u could build this.

i would OC the CPU to 3.0GHz or more if u want if u dont know how to u can ask on this site.
also u should increase the fan speed of the Video cards to about 45% cos on their stock fan speed they run VERY HOT

RedDevil picked out some good parts. But I think you should replace the following parts:

Replace the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 for $260 with this:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield - $190
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017

Replace the Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower for $214 with this:
XION Solaris XON-403 Black with Green LED Light Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - $40
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811208009&Tpk=XION Solaris XON-403 Black

Replace the CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) RAM for $120 (has $40 mail in rebate) with this:
Patriot Extreme Performance 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) RAM - $64 (has a $20 mail in rebate)
There is very little difference in speed with PC 8500 RAM versus PC 6400 RAM. PC 8500 isn't worth the extra cost.

Thank you everyone.

2 Graphics/Video cards can be put on one computer?

Now time for me to save up, im halfway there.

Should i buy the pieces as i save up the money, or get all the money then buy at once. Or does it even matter lol? I think it will feel faster if i buy the pieces as i get the money.

I have the XION case and hate it personally. Feels very flimsy and cheap and the side panel is a pain in the arse to reassemble!

Thanks for the advice. What is a good case in your opinion? $214 is definitely an excessive cost for a case. I think $75 or lower is a fair price for a case.

My computer case is cheap and flimsy. I personally don't care because it works.

If your motherboard has two PCI Express slots and has "crossfire" or "SLI" technologies you can use two video cards with your system.

Some video cards has two cards built in to one so you could go that route if you desire.

I would buy all your components at the same time. If you buy a few parts and some of them are defective you could miss out on a window of time that you have to return the defective parts.

yeah it is definately worth building it on your own, because when it comes to upgrading you will already have the know-how. Also there are so many compter techs on this forum that provide such a great resource when building a computer that any problems should be fixed in no time.

If i wanted to go with a GeForce video card instead what would be a good replacement?

Wait and buy all the parts at the same time. Plus, there's a decent chance that the price will come down on at least one of those parts by then.
