new PC after 5 years :)

am looking at getting a new rig as my current PC recently turned 5 which is = 50 in computer years :)

anywho, this is what i'm thinking...

Asus P6T Motherboard
Intel Core i7 (quad core) 2.66GHz 45nm
Nvidia GeForce GTX 295
Kingston ValueRAM DDR3 PC10600 1333MHz 2GB x 3 = 6gig
Corsair TX650W Power Supply
Antec Nine Hundred Case
already have HDD's, keyboard, mice, monitors and dvd burner.

and here are some questions....

- the corei7 are very costly at the moment and so are the mobo's that go along with them. will there be a price drop in the summer in your opinion?

- or should i get another quadcore chip / mobo to keep things cheaper?

- the antec 900 looks good but i've heard the 1200 is heaps better but in what way?

- can the gtx295 run 3 monitors as it has the extra HDMI slot which is awesome for watching HD stuff :)

- will the power supply be enough? i have zero clue in that department :(

thanks in advance :)

Looks great! The only thing I would think about is 1600mhz memory. The power supply should be enough, but for next to nothing, you could get another 50-100w and be more future proof. If you kept your last computer for 5 years, you really need to think about future expansion.

I can't answer your question about the video card, hopefully someone else will chime in.

yeah, i was also leaning towards the 800 watt PS just a matter of future proofing too.
started with the 650W as i just wasn't sure what the new core i7, mobo and gtx295 needed to be honest.

and yup, computers age waaaaaaay faster than humans and much faster than dogs so why not :)

1. Prices are always dropping in PC land.
2. I personally think the newest stuff is overpriced.
3. Its not, I would recommend the 300 to anyone, I have it. I have the 900 its great. 1200 is simply overpriced.
4. I dono about that. I have never felt the need to install more than 1 =\
5. Yes, that PSU will be fine.
