New PC Build, Any Changes Suggested?

Hello Guys,

I just wanted to ask everyone what you think of this build before making the purchase. My budget is $1500 and everything came out to be like $1400. Here are the following parts:

Asus P8P67 (Rev 3.0) LGA 1155 - $173

Intel Core i7-2600K - $329.00

CORSAIR XMS 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) - $100 x 2

Antec Nine Hundred - $110

ASUS ENGTX560 TI DCII TOP/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - $270

CORSAIR Hydro H70 CWCH70 120mm High Performance CPU Cooler - $105

OCZ Z Series Gold OCZZ850M 850W ATX12V 2.3/ EPS12V 2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - $180

What do you guys think? I know the hard drive is missing but I already have a 300GB VelociRaptor I am going to use until I find a decent SSD.
 
the $100 x 2 is each set is 8GB (2x4GB). I need 2 sets to go 16GB so it'll be $200. I am just building a new PC to replace my old one. My current one is an AMD X2 4600+. I build this about 3 years ago and i thought it is time for a new one :)

16GB is way overkill.

Save some money and just get 8.
With the saved money you could improve a different item or just pocket it.
 
OCZ's psus are a little on the loud side, but fairly reliable from what i've heard. I don't think you'll need quite that many watts to power that system, i'd get 650-750w tops.

What will be the purpose of this computer?
If its gaming then The core i7 2600k is overkill for gaming the 2500k will be way more than enough for gaming.
The XMS3 is not high performance memory I would recomend Going with something like GSkill RipJaw or Corsair Dominator.
And as far as PSU is concerned I would recomend the Seasonic 750W or an XFX 750W PSU.
And Antec 900 is a mid-tower case if you don't mind a big case you can get a really good full-tower in that budget.
Corsair H70 is a self-contained Liquid Cooling unit.I would recomend a fully fledged Liquid cooling or Air cooling instead rather than going for only the CPU and radiator.

And you can also change fans with some better quality fans.And the Fans are rather loud since they do not come with Anit-Vibration rubbers and the noise is quite noticeable.

And if building a gaming computer then you should upgrade the GPU
 
For the hard drive, i'd get a 40 or 64gig ssd and a 1tb hd(for speeding up the os, and being able to store things). Do not buy bare drives unless you have enough sata cables at your current disposal. Also make sure they are the right type of sata's(don't use sata6 cables on a sata3 device going into a sata3 slot).

There is no such thing as "high performance" memory. You can pay extra for lower timings/higher clocks, however compare the dominator's to the XMS3 at equal clocks/timings, there is no difference, other than the price

There are other good PSU brands other than SeaSonic and XFX that probably offer cheaper options

You can get a full tower case for the price of an Antec 900, however not one that would be better than a decent mid tower, which the 900 is not

You can save some money and improve some things with the money saved, whilst still making it more than capable of doing anything and everything:

I know.But the Dominators have better heat spreaders compared to the XMS3.So that means better overclocking.

And as for PSU since he is already spending $180 he would rather have a Seasonic unit or the XFX 750 Unit.
But +1 on the Antec.It too is a Seasonic unit RIGHT???

With decent airflow, both will still overclock equally. I've got XMS in my system right now, and the way that the airflow of my case works, and how I've got it set up with my CPU cooler, I've got part of the air from a 140mm fan blowing up onto the sticks of memory, and air from my CPU heatsink blowing up + around the RAM modules, so if I did choose to overclock, they would be at excellent temperatures still.

And the newer EarthWatts are built by SeaSonic, yes. There are some built by Delta, which you can tell by looking at the product code which, if built by Delta, will have a D on the end. They were still excellent units as well

You are right about the case interior management.But still the Ripjaws and Dominators have better heat spreaders,compared to the XMS3s.

Are you using the Pull config fan of the heatsink for cooling the Memory?

that doesn't make the XMS3's bad, nor does it mean they won't overclock, or even overclock as far as the others, quite the contrary. Megahalems + 2 x 120mm fans in push pull is a better cooler than a CM V6 is, that doesn't mean that you can't overclock your CPU very far on the V6. What you will end up doing is reaching the limits of the hardware before heat becomes an issue

For my case airflow, no, front - back isn't possible with my case. I'll get a pic posted up in the post your PC section, but basically it is bottom - top with an extra rear exhaust
