New PC Build - Is it all compatable?

they are generally lower quality than Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, thermaltake, OCZ and so on. sure, they work good for what you have, but when the reach their max load they can pop like a firecracker at any time. A good quality unit can deliver its rated power and more.

Some people managed to pull 700w of power from a 500w OCZ StealthXStream

Wrong memory, you need 2 x 2GB kit for 1156, this is for x58.

I would buy 1 5970 if you can find it before CR 2 5850s, especially on an 1156 build which will CR 8x8 and lose 10%.

Just didnt notice that thing about the memory. thanks. This should work right?

Also, on your other comment I posted about the video cards in the motherboard section were I want to SLI 2 of these cards and everyone said I would only lose 1 - 2% and your telling me 10%? I just want to make sure I know what the actuality is.

Thanks in advance

No, it isn't.

From what Newegg has, Corsair, Silverstone, Seasonic, Enermax, PC Power and Cooling, and higher-end Antec and Thermaltake PSU's are what you'll be wanting for a high-power PSU. XClio is making a name for itself as well, but I'll let someone with more knowledge than me confirm their quality. There's more good brands as well, but that's what you'll find for the most part.

If you're going for a ~1kw model, go for one of these:

Corsair 950W

Corsair 1000W

Silverstone 1000W

Silverstone 1000W

Thermaltake 1000W

I'd recommend the Silverstone ones. They have an 80 amp +12v rail, which is monstrous.

If you want to drop to an 850W model, both of these have good rebates right now:

Silverstone

Corsair (the 950W model is only $20 more...)

Also, IMO, it would be a good idea to drop one of the video cards and upgrade to a Core i7...maybe even a 920 if you can take the extra cost of the mobo/RAM. The 5850 will more than max any current game, and you can always add a second one later.

What city and state are you located in?

In some cases the P55 is faster than a x58 with a single card, 1156 = P55 (i5-750, i7-860 etc).

The P55 cannot do full 16x 16 CF or SLI, it is 8x8. The X58 is faster in CF or SLI.

The general rule is one big card is better than 2 cards in CF. The 5850 in CF is not as fast as a 5970 in the reviews I have seen. The 5970 cost $50 more than 2x 5850 and is less complex and problematic, so...

Ok, I think im finished. All I want is to build a good PC for as close to $1100 as possible. I think Ive done that. Please just review the parts once more to make sure everything is compatible.

(I'm getting a second Video card for free so I will be SLI-ing)

I bought a new 500g 10thousand rpm HD 2 weeks back and I'm still recovering from cost hehe.

What is the deal about the ATI video card? Why does everyone say not to get 2 ATI 5850's and get 1 5870 when the cars are almost the exact same...
Wouldn't 2 of the 5850 make mroe sense?

GPU - Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT)
Core Clock - 850MHz
Stream Processors - 1600 Stream Processing Units
Effective Memory Clock - 1200MHz (4.8Gbps)
Memory Size - 1GB
Memory Interface - 256-bit
Memory Type - GDDR5

vs

GPU - Radeon HD 5850
Core Clock - 725MHz
Stream Processors - 1440 Stream Processing Units
Effective Memory Clock - 1000MHz (4.0Gbps)
Memory Size - 1GB
Memory Interface - 256-bit
Memory Type - GDDR5

How are you getting a free 5850 anyways?

I think you will be fine with the CF route. Like I said though, the general rule is one better card over two smaller cards. The 5850 in CF will be faster than one 5870. It is just more complex.
