Hey guys

I just built my PC
and it's running okay :)

but i'm trying to get some internet on this thing..
I"m a reallllll noob with networking and stuff so. i really need help

Sooo..

I have a modem connected to the wall.. (Comcast)
Then a Router Connected to the Modem

Then My Old PC connected to the Router
Internet works on my Old PC..

Just to see if it would work.. I removed router Cable from the Old PC and put it into my New PC

And.. It doesn't work
I think the hardware and everything is set right.. I was thinking maybe I need to change some settings around >.< I'm not sure

If you need any info in order to help...ask away! :)
Thanks

when you plugged the router cable from the old and put it in the new, does it say "Local Area Connected" ?
go to control panel --> network connections and check if you have connectivity ?

or
did you install the driver ?

Did you go to the Motherboard make (EVGA, XFX, Gigabyte, ect) site and download LAN Drivers? This happend to me as we'll I formatted my CPU to find out my internet was not working. After I performed the Live Bio's update it notified me that I needed to update my Lan drives. After that my motherboard (As we'll as windows) seen there was an ethernet cable connected. Opened the browser and IE popped up. I hope this helps. Sorry in advance if you have tried this.

Same thing happened to me, and i was going to suggest that as well.

Either one of 2 things, you didn't install the network driver or you have a bad network card. Go into device manager and make sure you have all devices installed properly. What items are listed under network adapters? Anything with yellow exclamation points?

Like patrickv said:-

It could just be a case of right clicking the network connection and selecting "enable" ;)

Ok..
I'll try the advice with installing newest network drivers

but... i don't have internet on that computer to download from

I guess.. just transfer w/ mem.drive....

Thanks guys..

this happned to me,completly turn off the modem, router so theres no power through it at all,and leave it for 5 mins and then plug it back in and restart your pc.

that worked for me.

i had that problem once when i reformatted my pc because of viruses and malfunctions.. then after i finished reformatting it ia cannot connect to the net.. heres what i did:

1. make sure that it is properly plugged on to the computer and turn the
router and modem on.
2. i go to check if my network adapter runs good or it is installed already.
you'll know if the adapter is not installed if it has yellow thing in it with
exclamation point.
3. i configured the internet connections giving the right username and
passwords.
4. lastly i tried to connect after doing all of that, then it connects.
