New PC / exchange

Hi. I wasn't in computer hardware stuff for a good couple of months now and I don't actually know what's good and what's bad in these times..

So I'd like you to build me a rather gaming/multimedia PC, something that will be better and newer than:

ASUS P5E Deluxe
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
ATi Radeon HD4870

but will not exceed the price by that much - so something up to £800 ($1300).
If you could do me a favour and look on UK sites (ebay.co.uk, scan.co.uk etc.)

Thanks in advance,
Anal.

PS. I'd rather something quiet aswell, the HD4870 produces so much power that my PSU works amazingly loud)

Wait until next year when new CPU with new socket are out.
If you want a boost in performance at the moment, you would better get new video card.
What case and PSU have you got? You can change those to make the machine quiet.

The PSU itself its quiet, only the GPU generates soo much power that the PSU gets louder. For e.g., my friend has got the same PSU (its called Highpower 1000w- http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/highp...top-power-supply-unit-1000w-03731651-pdt.html) and is very quiet on his PC. He has got Gigabyte MA770T-UD3P, Phenom II x4 955 BE and nVidia 9500GT - his GPU does not need additional power supply to make it run, thats why it is quieter... besides the 4870 generates so much heat inside the case that the PSU is getting hotter and hotter...

And I have got Antec 900

i wouldnt bother upgrading...honestly right now that machine is still quite good, like daisymtc said, wait till the next architectures are out, then if you still feel the money burning a hole in your pocket, go for it.

If you got 1000W, I am not sure if drawing more power shouldn't be the real problem...
Anyway, if you want quiet PSU, have a look on Silverstone Decathlon or Be Quiet!
