alright well i'll probably be getting a new pc this summer, around the time when am2 comes out, but i think im just gonna stick w/ socket 939 cuz the prices will be lowered. anyways my budget is about $2000 maybe a little more. it will be primarily be used for gaming such as bf2, fear, and some others and definately for multitasking so i want to go dual core amd. i also dont need a monitor, mouse, or keyboard.
here are the basics of what i think i want but may change

cpu: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16819103546
psu: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817103931
GFX: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16814130282
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820227210 (need some suggestions on this, only picked this one cuz it had such great reviews. i dont really no anything about timing and such).
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813131540 (same as the ram, dont really know much about mobos, is this one really that much different from the deluxe?).

so basically i have no idea what hdd(s) to get. i want one w/ 250g and 16mb cache for things such as music and stuff, but i have been thinking about getting a 74g raptor for the OS and some games. i also havent chosen a case so any suggestions on that would be great too.
i know you all get these kind of posts all day and are sick of them but i really need some suggestions on this.
thanks

Yeah, all the parts you have chosen are very nice, should play pretty much any game high/max.

A HDD, i would reccomend a Western Digital 250GB SATAII 16MB cache. I have it, its fast and ive never had any problems with it.

As for a case, whats your budget? I have a Thermaltake Soprano, and i really like it, but if you were to get a Thermaltake, I would reccomend the Tsunami, it has better cooling since the door has coolingf slots (The sopranos door resricts air from getting to the front fan)

But if you were to wait for AM2, then It would give you a better upgrade path.

Well this story sounds like my exact same build. What I have in my specs cost me just under $2000 after shipping. There were a few extras from newegg but that is the just of it. I already have a 19" LCD, mouse, keyboard, microsoft office 2003, and windows xp sp2.

With my suggestion, you can get a really nice system. :D

what does that add up to? and you could for the the 7900gtx and maybe the 4800 i dont know for sure.

$1968 was my final price off of newegg.com That was a couple of weeks ago. I dont understand your second sentence.

Looks pretty nice, maybe get a 4200+ and save some money for something else, since cache size doesnt make a big difference in games. Nice RAM.

Also maybe exchange the mobo for a DFI lanparty board.

alright thanks for all the replies. i dont want a DFI mobo cause i've heard that they are good for overclockers and i dont even know where to begin to overclock, maybe sometime in the future i'll pick it up.
thanks haynea4f for the suggestions, thats a really nice setup u got there and i'll probably take stuff from there.
my main concern though is with the hard drives. i wanna put my OS and some games on the raptor and have music and such on the 250g hdd. but say i were to do that and u know when u download songs they just go to ur hdd without asking or anything. is there a way to set it to tell the songs where they go, or do they go to the hard drive set to primary?
thanks

edit: about the case, i'll probably have 100-200 left over for a case. so any more suggestions on that would be great too, also i want a side window on it
thanks again

Go for an X2 3800+ or an Opty of some sort (146 or 148) -

some 3800 have hit 3Ghz on air- with 2.4-6 being the norm- Opteron 146 /8 seem to have good steppings ATM so as long as you OC them, they should be fine.
