I am about to build and set up my gaming PC. I was wondering if it is safe to put the computer on wooden boards on the carpet because of static. I might have a few more questions while I build so I'll post here.
 
When it comes to building, I avoid carpets and clothes like the plague. Use static mats and other static proof items such as wristbands and build your machine on a workbench/ table.
