Hi.

I wasn't in the hardware business for a long time so I would like someone to build me a multimedia/gaming PC for up to $8000 (£6000).

I'd like you to state 2 of each components so I'd have a pick ;)

I thought about getting 6 cored Intel?

You serius? £6,000

You must be mad.

with that sort of budget you could get an I7 Extreme,12Gb of very fast 2000Mhz ram, dual 480s...water cooling, maybe two SSDs in Raid.

But such as waste of money imo...I could throw a list together for you if you want,Il have to do it later though ive got to go out now....unless someone pus alist together for you before i come back later :)

Core I7 980X, triple crossfire 5870/ 3-way SLi GTX 480, 12GB RAM, Blu-ray burner, SSD in RAID 0, SATA II HDD for normal storage, may be in RAID 1? Water Cool?

Righty....

Intel Build...

Total = £4114.05

What a machine...but £930 just for a processor
Also i know nothing about watercooling,So you would have to add watercooling kit costs to that if you wanted to WC. :)

With that budget id recommend sticking with intel,I cant see any of the AMD processors keeping up with that Extreme i7.

dont be stupid right now. get 12 gb of the corsair dominator gtx-2's which are 250 bucks for 2 gigs. get 4 gtx 480's with water cooling. 2 pumps. 2 res. 2 rads. corsair 800D or cosmos S for the case. 980x on the rampage III extreme. 8000 dollars would get you an insane rig.

Good luck fitting 2 loops to cool that in a cosmos s or 800d, and the rampage 3 extreme doesn't do quad sli without a riser board

Is it possible to make the PC less quiet? So as less fans as possible..at least up to $5000 please. Two screens might be useful... 3 or 4 ATI graphics? Water cooled, blu-ray? A good monitor? Something in 3D?

You must be mad.

I might be, I just sold a house abroad so all incomings are in GBP and I wanted to make my self a good gaming PC

I don't want any of these PCs because I'd ratrer build it myself. So any built PCs are out of the way. And DJboutit, I was in the computer world world for many, many years (since 2001) and I know what is good and what is bad its just I wasnt updating myself with the latest hardware and its kinda hard to catch up.

Those computers are totaly customizeable play around with one till you get the stuff you want in the one you want

No, I want to build a computer with my own hands so please dont give me suggestions that are similar to that one.

Well carry on with our topic... have you got any suggestions?

I don't know if I can stay in the budget, but I'll try(I'll edit this when I'm done)
2x Intel Xeon x5670 $1,459.99 each
1x eVga sr-2 $599.99

2x Corsair Dominator 2000mhz ddr3(or similar) $429.99 each
1x extended ascension cyo(Trinity front, HPTX tray with 10 pci horizon) depending on your finish, up to $579.99
3x gtx 480s $500 each
2x enermax revolutions $300 each
2x 80gb intel ssd's $229 each
3x seagate 7200.12 500gb drives in raid 5 $60 each
windows 7 of some some sort $99-200
4x thermochill 120.3's $110 each
4x laing d5 pumps $65 each
2x ek dual d5 pump tops $88 each
2x IandH 225ml reservoirs $60 each
3x ek gtx 480 waterblocks $110 each
2x ek supreme hf's $75 each
14x Gentle typhoons(21db) $15 each
I would include a budget of around $300 for all your fittings

That should be it(looks like i went over including the watercooling :P)

riser board ftw dude. and just for my information what case is bigger than the cosmos s? that thing is ENORMOUS. its wayyy bigger than the haf 932 and 800D.

Even if the money you stated is not an object, unlimited funds, there is no need. We could get you some large SSD drives maybe... But they would be a total waste.
