new pc

Meh, its kinda outdated but if this is your budget, go for it, I would definately upgrade to 2 or 4 gb of ram however

yer i was gonna upgrade the ram i was also gonna put a 40gb ide and a 160 gb sata hard drive into it to give me more space becuase they were left over from a old pc i have got.I might also put a extra dvd rw drive also from my old pc which broke. And yer that is my budget but i am still £12 short at the minute but i will hopefully get the money before this goes.By the way i am a student and that is why my budget is so small

It is very poor, pentium 4 is ancient, it also doesn`t even have a dvd re-writer description says a dvd rom.

The extra money you would need to upgrade it just to get it to a basic level, i would just spend it all on a decent system that won`t need upgraded.

If you look around you can get 775 socket intel duo core for £100.

Ebay is not the best place to buy a pc, try www.gumtree.com, see what computers are for sale in your area.

i did say that i have a dvd rw drive i can put in it and extra hdds and te processor speed is ok for me all i really wanted to know is if it was going to break quickly or if it was a durable reliable pc

Well you can`t predict when a component might fail, but as i said with the age of pentium 4 chips it increases the chances of a failure.

I would strongly recommend trying to get at least 775 socket, they are pretty old now but far newer and better performance the 478 socket p4.

oh i thought it was socket 775 becuase there are some socket 775 pentium 4s.Accturly the computer i had last which broke had a p4 socket 775.

you do get pentium 4 in both 478 socket and 775, to have p4 in 478 socket would be bad enough, but to have a p4 in a 775 socket instead of a duo core is madness.

p4 775 socket is very rare, i repair pc`s daily and hardly ever come across 775 socket pentium 4.

I also just noticed the seller has 3 negative and 5 neutral feedback in the last 12 months, that`s something to consider.

That Pc of is old so it is doubtful it will last any more than 4 years without modifications. Plus the P4 is outdated, more than you might think. Also the pc won't support to many new upgrades given the age.
