New Phenom CPU's

at this point in time i dont think there will be any difference in gaming between these cpus. If you have a quad core or better the only difference in gaming will come from ur graphics card

i7 860 is better overall than 1090T in gaming

You can see some gaming benchmarks for gaming from here

Also, you can see more review from this post

3 fps is hardly better. If you find me a person that can notice 3fps I want to meet them.

The 1090T will be similar in gaming, but much better out of games because of the extra 2 cores, especially if multitasking

If you look at multi-threaded benchmarks, you would notice that the difference is negligible and unnoticeable most of the time and actually the i7 wins in many cases in normal App. 1090T is more expensive and does NOT offer any real performance advantage over i7 860.

Benchmarks you say, not real world?

In the real world, 6 cores is better at multitasking and at multithreaded applications than 4 cores are. As for more expensive:

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/AMD-...ban-Sok-AM3-32GHz-9MB-Total-Cache-125W-Retail

near enough the same, yet with the AMD you get higher clock speed, 2 more cores and more cache (however that can't really be compared because the i7 has smart cache)

both will game similarly , both are good choices for OP, but for 2 extra cores which will serve better out of games, aswell as if running other programs with games simultaneously

A 6 core would certainly beat a 4 core if they both have similar performance per core. But it is not the case with i7 because it has better performance per core, and HT. Not to mention that there isn't many app that use 6 cores.

As for the price, I'm not sure if xxartanisxx is British or American. on newegg i7 860 is cheaper

i7 has much higher IPC, which means that AMD should be clocked much higher to match intel performance.

Good job they are clocked higher then isn't it. I know the Intel Architecture is faster per clock than the AMD.

Single threaded programs will still benefit from the extra cores, many people have several programs open at once, having a core for each program (I know most of the time it doesn't work as perfectly as that) speeds that up a hell of alot

Im American. So ya the 1090T is more expensive but 1055T is significantly cheaper. I think im going to have to go with the i7 for the time being just because i want a red and black or just black mobo for the case mod i will be doing in the future. Was going with the Foxconn Inferno Katana or w/e and that would look great.

I just wish there really was a clearcut answer as to which was better.

Asus Crosshair IV 890FX is black and red and would give you the choice of AMD too.

Both systems will do exactly what you need so your call, either way it will be a decent rig
