New Processor or More RAM

I have a high CPU usage when trying to do a few things at a time.

I have a 1.60Ghz processor and I have 512MB of RAM.

So which would be better, more RAM or a faster processor?

Thanks for any help.

The processor is an Intel Pentium 4 1.60Ghz. And I don't have much of a budget...I just want something that is better than what I have. Is that enough details about it?

keep that system the way it is. it sounds like u have pc133 ram at max... its not worth upgrading that or the processor.
#1 save money.
#2 build or buy a new computer... preferably p4 3ghz or higher, and 1gb of ram... OR athlon 64 1.8ghz or higher
either way get at least 512mb of ram.. minimum. 1gb will allow you to do whatever you like at whatever time you like.

agree, if you have that old motherboard+ cpu,
might as well save up some money and buy the whole new computer

these days, 256MB ram, you can't do anything with it
about a year from now, you will need 2GB for window vista
for example, i just bought my 2GB ram for $300 can.

note: 256MB x 4 = 1Gb

how much did you pay for that 256MB ram??

I have 512MB of RAM in case you didnt read, but I agree, you can't do much with 256MB Ram any more.

So what do you guys think...should I buy more ram, a new processor or just wait and buy a whole new system?

buy nothing, just save up about $1500 and buy your self a super computer ^^;;;

well, even with $1000 would be good enough,,

but i have not asked you what's your purpose for the computer, sry
if its for gaming purpose, you better buy a new computer
if not, just stick with your computer for a while,,,

oh yes, what's you video card?

Alright, I'm saving.

And when I do buy a new comp do you think I can just take the video card out of this one and put it in that one? Or would it be better to get a new video card.
