i made a little cash making some computers for friends, now i get to make myself one finally.
I've always wanted to try the ammo box, but idk about it, if i did do it, it would be kinda complicated..........but then again, idk if i wanna just go with a normal case.......
just a minute and i'll put together some parts for the ammo box.

Ok, it seems it messed up last time i tried to post, so here are the parts i got so far:

should end up at around $600 (when i add the fans) but if i get a little extra cash i might go for a better video card, and 1gb ram

Well, if i have time i will, otherwise it will just stay like a normal ammo box for a while.....also i think i will get a 120mm fan for exhuast and an 80mm fan for intake, that should create some negative pressure which is suppose to be better.

i'll have to figure what exactly will have to fit where to get it to work

Doesn't look bad at all. As for the posative VS. negative pressure every one always fights about it. Some say negative and some posative.

idk if it will fit now, after looking at the demensions, the biggest one i can find is like 12x9x6, the mobo is like 8x8 i think, and with the video card, i think it might like be close if not at the 6in mark, also, with the mobo and psu, idk if it will fit.........

i could strip down the mobo to a socket a, with an xp-m 2600 which is suppose to be able to be oc'ed really easily, to like 2.5 ghz....which would put it at high enough levels for my needs at 2.3 which would still be cooler then a normal processor.
that would save quite a bit of cash, then with the cash saved, i can go wtih 1gb ram.
sound good?

I wouldn't do it. If you drop back to the socket a that's just that much sooner that you will have to upgrade. I would stick witht the socket 939.

I think since the 6800le is 124, i can then go with a socket 754, which, will give me enough upgrade options, becuase by the time that i get a 3700+ in there, and its outdated, i might aswell get a whole new one.....
also, the 6800le once the pipes are unlocked and shaders, it is suppose to blow away the 6600GT and be at or above 6800GT levels.

there, i might up the processor, or get just 1 stick of ram, so i save the precious 2 ram slots.
also, do u think this will fit in an ammo box? should i go for the grenade box?

As for the posative VS. negative pressure every one always fights about it. Some say negative and some posative.
Well really it wont matter ... too much of one will automatically create the other ... if not then you're gonna have a [de]pressurized case which would be plain silly :)

which is suppose to be able to be oc'ed really easily, to like 2.5 ghz....which would put it at high enough levels for my needs at 2.3 which would still be cooler then a normal processor.
No OCd XP-M will match clock for clock a A64.

I think since the 6800le is 124,
The 6600GT will very easily outpace that with a bit of OCing

ok, any more suggestions before i go through with buying the parts?
Make sure the HSF is compatible with the CPU if you decide to get an aftermarket

Ok, and with the 6800le, ur saying after unlocking the pipes and shaders the 6600GT will beat it?
and as u can see i did go with the A64.

i ment with the 6800le's pipes and shaders unlocked the 6600GT will still keep up with it?
1. You dont unlock shaders. Shaders are programs.
2. And which make/model of 6800LE are you [planning on] getting and how much are expecting to unlock?

Um, most people get at or above 12 pipes and 5 shaders.......so somewhere in that ballpark range.

Um, most people get at or above 12 pipes and 5 shaders.......so somewhere in that ballpark range.
1. They do? From what ive seen about half-half get 12 the other half dont get anything
2. Well you either get 12 or you get 16 ... since you can only nail them in quads
3. You dont unlock shaders (as i noted in post 16) ... shaders are mini-programs
