Hey guys,

im planning on getting new ram because at 2.8Ghz my overclock isnt stable and i think my ram is the problem as its 667Mhz,currently 776Mhz or something at 2.73Ghz,if i raise it more i can boot into windows but orthos fails hence the reason im at the current speeds...

anyway, was looing at some software to view system specs and its saying i have a B2 stepping E6300 Allendale (Now is it me or isnt the B2 stepping the Conroe version that runs hotter than the Allendale?) Also Allendale overclocks better right?

im so confused lol DO I HAVE ALLENDALE OR CONROE?

screenshot (pleae note i have intel speedstep on or whatever its called to save power)

but yeah i plan to get 4Gb of 800Mhz ram and overclock me e6300 more you think this is possible?

I Dunno lol,Intelman why have you not overclocked that baby? you realy do notice the diffrence on a 45-50% overclock ;)

I'm using a HP mobo atm and the case I use only supports mATX. No point of upgrading until I save enough money for the nehalems. XD

an E6300 is a a Conroe with 2mb of cache, thus making it an Allendale processor. you could be running into problems with your ram, in which case i'd skip DDR-2 800 and just take the leap to DDR2-1000 or 1066. with a 7x multiplier you have to get your fsb up pretty high to yeild a decent clock. however, it's not impossible. my old E6300 B2 did 3.36ghz (480x7) with some G.Skill DDR2-800.
