New rig, for gaming...

Ok, you have three options:

1.- Definately get a E6300, its just the best line of CPUs for gaming at the moment and you are going to be gaming so it should be the first thing, then get a 7900 GT for now (its a card with an excellent performance, not too low and not too expensive so you can save for the next card) and wait until 8800's come down in price buy one and then you can add another 1GB of RAM. (or while you wait for the 8800's)

2.- Do what option 1 says

3.- Stick with what you have... lol :D

hope that helped :)

You're just in line with the recommend requirements for those games you want to play. If I were you I'd wait on getting a new cpu until at least May. The c2d processors' price should come down by then. As for the GPU, again I'd wait. When the DX10 units come out the higher end DX9's will go down. If you seriously want to upgrade right now, I'd buy another gig of RAM and call it a day.

You can play the games you want to play. Just dumb down the settings a little bit until you get a better GPU. Save your money for right now and when the "next big thing" comes around, take the money you saved from the price cuts and treat yourself to a 19" LCD.

Alright thanks guys, i think i will wait for the prices to drop before i upgrade. How much cheaper do you think the DX9 cards will be when the DX10 cards come out? And DX10 only works if you have vista right?

Actually i think DX10 works on XP, and about the DX9 cards, i think they will go to lower prices, but also they will make lower range 8000's (like the 8600) and those will be cheaper as well...
