I just got a new SATA HDD and windows setup won't recognize it. is there anything special you have to do for SATA drives? I found a website that said you needed a driver for it to recognize any SATA hard drives. so that means I cant put windows XP on it?

Use the search button.... This has been covered NUMEROUS times...

Raid drivers need to be loaded for windows to reognize the sata drive.
You will also need to enable the sata port (in bios) which you are to be using.

To load the dirvers, pop in the winxp cd and boot to it. then press f6 when it asks for raid drivers.... Think of it as raid/sata drivers.

Pop in the a:/ disk and point to the driver.

no u can put xp on it because i use sata also...have u formatted the HDD yet?...

also is this the only HDD u are using or are u using more than one?

no only one and its new. how do i format is it that control S thing?

i am having the same issue exept my bois doesn't reconize my hardrive on ether of the chipset sata ports, and i enabled them as well, anyways you should go to your motherboards manufacturer website, there should be the driver their, if that driver doesn't work then i dunno you'd be in the same boat i'm in
anyways good luck

You'll generally find the driver on the motherboard CD, and you can load it onto a floppy from there. Take a look on the CD, or the motherboard manufacturer's website.

couldnt find anything on msi website.

ok it turns out BIOS isnt recognizing my hard drive and probably not my floppy drive.
EDIT: ok I got it to recognize the floppy. I tried what this guy did: http://www.mysuperpc.com/build/pc_sata_second_boot.shtml
because my motherboard is a neo4 platinum too so i thought it would be the same. But i couldnt find this dma thing: The second is closer to the bottom of the sub-menu to set the SATA DMA access to Enabled. Press the "Escape" key to return to the previous sub-menu. Should I concatenate the hard drive or enable RAID?
here's some pics of bios if it helps:

Not read any other posts (I know, my bad). Have you set your bios to recognize the sata controllers?
