I've been researching some mobo's and cpu combos for a while now...
This is what I came up with for my budget..tell me what you guys think? =-)

MotherBoard
Asus M3N78 PRO Socket AM2+ GeForce 8300 Chipset DDR2-1066 PCI.e Motherboard

Processor
AMD Phenom Quad Core 9600 (2.3GHz) Socket AM2+ Processor

R.A.M
2GB PC6400 800Mhz DDR2 Certified SPD Dual Channel Kit Memory(1GB X 2 Sticks) - Super Talent ....Not so sure about the ram...any other ideas?

Hard Drive
Western Digital WD5000AAKS 500GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB Hard Drive

I already have my own case and power supply ....
That set up right there is running me 495.00 w/ shipping...
I just wanted to know what you guys thought of that set up?

Nice - as for ram, i recommend OCZ ram.

I say go intel....

Just a few questions:
What is going to be the main use for the computer???
What is your budget??? $500???

I have never had a Intel based machine and don't want to start now lol.
I'm a hip hop r & b producer for a low budget studio. The computers main functions will be to process audio applications, audio rendering, handling virtual instruments and so forth...

Intel is not good for these applications..I had an Intel based system once and it could not handle the virtual instruments I was running through it...and that was the dual core...The Intel based machine's cpu handling would spike to 100% ...but when I put the same programs on an AMD based machine....they ran as smooth as can be... and that was a single core based AMD machine... so yes I'm biased lol...

But anyways no, my budget can go to 2grand if need be...I was also thinking about building a machine w/ a dual core mobo, w/ the 32gb support....

The programs I run are a cpu hog....last machine I had I needed 8gb of R.A.M to run all my programs...

hopefully you guys can shed some light? and please leave the intel word aside haha...nah if intel processors have become more stable in the past 2 yrs for audio apps...let me know =-) ...I know quite a bit about computer hardware but not everything so share the knowledge...

and the R.A.M....I would like some ideas on that too...for my last set up I had pny technology ...and i loved how smooth it ran...but again you guys are the gurus so let me know..

Thanks everyone!!

ok i would get a b3 stepping cpu..i know the 9600 is cheaper but it has the tbl bug and sense your going to be stressing it a bit w wouldnt chance it..go with the 9550,9750,or 9850and so on with the 50's and it should be a great build..:D oh and i would go with the Ati 780G chipset or 790GX CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103288 Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131325R
