new setup good?

what do ya guys/gals think of this for a new power gaming pc? any glaring weakness (should i get the faster ram?? lol) any overkill??

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
cpu: Intel Core™ i7-2600K (8MB Cache) Overclocked 3.9GHz
gpu: 3GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590
psu: 875W Multi-GPU Approved Power Supply
ram: 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
hdd: 1TB SATA 3Gb/s (7,200RPM) 32MB Cache

mother board will be picked out later, something that will handle it all well with a nice case

2600k is a waste, only 1 game will perform any better on it for a good while, the 2500k is considered the flagship for gaming, you'll want ddr3 1600mhz, same price but faster, what brand is that psu, and truly the 570 or 80 is more than enough for you, the 590 is overpriced as hell and even the 570 if not the 560ti can kill any current game, and you might wanna take the money saved from the 590 to get a nice little ssd for the os and programs, way faster than a hdd.

where are you getting these from, or are you customizing one online?

I'm having a friend build me a new computer, moslty for gaming. I want to be a future proof as possible and have my eyes on skyrim running on ultra 100% perfectly
in november. I've heard great things about the 590 card and the cpu Im going to get will be overclocked as well.

I see my weakness with the 3mb/s hdd and possibly the ram not being 1866 or at least 1600....

As far as the psu, not sure about the brand, its from an alienware computer but works great I am told

A standard HDD drive won't even come close to using the speed of 3 gb/s. There is no noticeable increase in speed from a 3 to a 6 gb/s. The HDD simply doesn't work that fast.

So in essence, a 3 gb/s is just fine for a standard HDD.

Also agreed with pretty much everything Jonny said.

3 and 6 gb/s are the same speed, below 3, just the 6 could go that fast if it weren't a hdd

the 570 should be able to max skyrim, and if it shouldn't take a 590 to max anything for a while, really for its price it is better to get 2 lower end cards, that will be faster than the 590

and btw, the rec specs are a c2q and a 460, so a 2500k and a 560ti will almost def max it, so a 570 will max it i believe.

don't the 3 and 6 gb/s dives both run at the same speed, just a different cable or processor or something

Well the SATA revision 3 or SATA 6Gbit/s ports can have up to double the transfer rate as SATA revision 2 or SATA 3Gbit/s.

But a SATA 6Gbit/s mechanical harddrive cant take advange of it. But if you can get a SATA 6Gbit/s harddrive for about the same money and it performs the same, why not.

Good point, too bad when you add my long as he11 run-on sentences into the mix and miss-spelt words none of you could even tell what i am saying, so not sure if i should try to do that.
