New system or Upgrade GFX card and memory?

I am debating if I should build a new computer or not. I would like to ask you guys what would be the best solution. Here is my situation, I am only looking to build a new comp because I am frustrated with my GFX card performance on CS:S. I get 60fps but when I get into heavy gunfight, my fps drops from 60 to 20-30fps. I bugs the hell out of me when this happens. I am running an AMD 64 3500+ with an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Mobo, 1 gig of RAM (single channel), and EVGA 6800 GFX card.

My new system will consist of Intel e6600 cpu no mobo selected yet and 4 gigs dual channel RAM. EVGA 8800GTS GFX card with 640MB GDDR3. Windows Vista 64 bit OS.

Now I was thinking of just buying the EVGA 8800GTS 4 gigs of DC RAM, Windows Vista 64bit. and another 500GB HD that should put me in about $800-900. Now all of this will go on my old AMD 64 3200+ CPU and MOBO. Would that be the smarter thing to do or just go and build my new comp? Thanks

Your existing CPU would be a real bottleneck if you were to go that way. There's no real need to go with 4GB of RAM, though, you'd get better gaming performance with 2GB and an 8800GTX. There's a good chance you'll need a new PSU as well.

If your going to use vista get the lowest timing possible with 4 gigs. And with 8800gtx make sure you have the new intel quad core to be on the safeside. Then Watch your fps go up the roof.

You know the new 8800gtx require some good psu. So get a highend psu.

Sorry I meant 8800GTS. I dont want to spend a couple of hundred dollars more for the GTX to get a lil faster speed. I am looking to get the E6600 CPU.
